Christian Education For Adults

We believe that Christian Education is a cornerstone of discipleship. Through our Christian Education program, we strive to offer opportunities for parishioners to encounter Scripture together, pray together, and discern how God is calling us, both as individuals and as the church, to grow in faith. We welcome people from every background and experience level to share their unique perspective so that, together, we might learn more about who God is calling us to be. We believe that learning more about God as we learn from, help, and interact with each other is a life-long opportunity and joy…we hope you will share the journey of discipleship with us.

SUNDAY MORNING ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
Our regular adult Sunday School class meets every Sunday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 in the fellowship hall. This lay-led, discussion-oriented class moves through different topics and books of the Bible throughout the year. The study is intentionally “stand alone” in nature, so that visitors or people who can not attend regularly can step right in and participate.

“SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES” BIBLE STUDY
Our other regular Bible Study meets on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 in the fellowship hall. This is a pastor-led Bible Study that follows the Revised Common Lectionary and often involves a discussion of the texts that will be preached on the following Sunday. This group also devotes time to sharing prayer requests and praying for one another as a part of their time together.

LENTEN SMALL-GROUP BIBLE STUDIES
In recent years, our congregation has started a church-wide small group study during the season of Lent. These small groups of 8-10 meet weekly in homes to work through the study together, share prayer requests, and pray for one another. A common theme unites the studies with the Lenten sermon series as well. More information and sign-up will be made available in the weeks prior to Lent in late January or early February.

OTHER SUNDAY SCHOOL AND BIBLE STUDY OPPORUNITIES
Other adult Sunday School Classes, both pastor-led and lay-led, are offered at varying times throughout the year as well. Classes on topic ranging from “Basic Presbyterian Beliefs” to “Looking at Spiritual Disciplines” to our frequent New and Curious Members Classes offer alternative subjects and approaches throughout the year. Weekly small group Bible studies such as Women in Christ and our Monday afternoon group also meet at varying times during the year. The church newsletter and the front page of this website will offer regular updates on these other opportunities.

CHURCH LIBRARY
Our church has an always-growing selection of over seven hundred books, DVDs, and other media available for checkout. Our librarian is constantly working to add new titles to our collection of classic Christian titles, devotionals, study resources, Christian fiction, and more. The library includes resources for people of all ages, and our reading plan geared particularly for children encourages young readers. Questions and requests are welcome at the church office.
