It’s time for a hike! Join Janice and friends for a church hike at Caribou Ranch on Saturday, September 14th!
Back in the 1870’s, mining started at Caribou Ranch for silver and the rare gem, blue azurite. In 1970, the property was purchased by a music producer, who then converted the barn into a recording studio for notable artists like Elton John and Rod Stuart.
This will be a four and a half mile round trip with elevation gain. We will have the options of 1.2 miles to Caribou Ranch, and to add a 1.8 mile loop to Blue Bird Mine! The mine allows walking the grounds of the mining company, it’s offices, dormitories, and old equipment. There is also the old train track bed and closed off mine entrances. Grab your lunch and enjoy tables by the pond and porch of the homestead!
Meet at 7:30 a.m. to carpool from the church.
Bring plenty of water and sunscreen, snacks and/or lunch, sunglasses, a hat, hiking poles, layers of clothing and comfortable hiking shoes. We also suggest bringing binoculars and a camera!
A sign-up sheet is in the reception area.
